Out of the ten teams in the Indian Premier League, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni have a special place in the hearts of fans. Chennai Super Kings Homecoming to Chepauk Leadership by MSD and the Dynamic Play of Stokes
This is largely due to the charismatic leadership of the 41-year-old Dhoni, who is known for his impressive physical strength and lightning-fast reflexes, despite not being as effective with the bat as he once was
Despite his batting form not being what it used to be, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s leadership has brought the Chennai Super Kings to victory four times and to nine finals. His mere presence on the field is enough to make the opposition nervous, as they struggle to come up with a winning strategy.
As a master of strategy and tactics, Dhoni knows how to use the team’s resources to their fullest potential, and in what may be his final season as a professional cricketer, he may still have some surprises up his sleeve
As the Indian Premier League resumes its traditional home and away format, the Chennai Super Kings will have the opportunity to play seven matches at their beloved “Fortress Chepauk” this season. After failing to make it to the playoffs in the previous season, Mahendra Singh Dhoni,

who took back the captaincy from Ravindra Jadeja, will undoubtedly be aiming to end his tenure on a high note. However, it’s uncertain if the enigmatic “Captain Marvel” will retire or not, leaving fans on edge.
Disregarding the Chennai Super Kings’ chances in the IPL has never been a wise move, and this season will be no exception. Moreover, with the addition of the talented English all-rounder Ben Stokes to their lineup, CSK will be a formidable opponent for any team.

The inclusion of Ben Stokes in the Chennai Super Kings team will provide them with a new dynamic, as his powerful hitting ability has the potential to alter the course of any game. Moreover, in the slow conditions of the Chepauk stadium, he can deliver a few exceptional overs and even unsettle the opposition batsmen with his well-directed deliveries
The Chennai Super Kings will have the advantage of playing seven matches at their home ground, Chepauk, where players such as Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali could potentially excel on the sluggish wickets, making it challenging for batsmen to score runs
Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad make up one of the most well-established opening pairs among all IPL teams. The Chennai Super Kings’ batting lineup will be anchored by a strong core of Ambati Rayudu, Ben Stokes, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and Ravindra Jadeja. In addition, they have Ajinkya Rahane, who can be utilized as an “Impact Player” in low-scoring games

Chance or Possibility
The Chennai Super Kings will have the chance to evaluate the potential of their fast bowling department, which includes the deceptively quick young Simarjeet Singh and the Lasith Malinga lookalike Matheesa Pathirana, who will both have an opportunity to showcase their skills
Matheesa Pathirana’s unorthodox slinging action has proven to be a challenge for batsmen in the past. Although he has not been selected to play for Sri Lanka recently, he has been playing domestic cricket after the IPL 2020 in the UAE
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has a reputation for selecting players he believes will perform well for the Chennai Super Kings, and if Matheesa Pathirana is available, he may be one of those players. Dhoni is also adept at utilizing the “Impact Player” rules for overseas recruits, allowing him to field three foreign players during batting innings and then include the fourth during bowling innings.
In such scenarios, someone like Mitchell Santner could be a valuable asset for the team on the slow and tricky Chepauk pitch.
Risk or Danger
The primary hazard for CSK lies in their aging squad, and Dhoni hasn’t yet nurtured any promising young Indian batsmen. In high-scoring games, players like Rayudu or Rahane might struggle to accelerate the scoring rate.
Another menace will be the lack of high-quality Indian spin bowlers, which could be a worry for Dhoni. One reason for this is Jadeja’s relatively lackluster T20 record in recent times. While Jadeja has been exceptional at No. 5 or 6 in Test matches, the same cannot be said for his left-arm spin in T20 cricket.
Looking at the records, it is evident that Dhoni has often refrained from using Jadeja’s full quota of overs in T20 cricket. While there are some options in terms of left-arm spinners like U-19 World Cup winner Nishant Sindhu and Ajay Mandal from Chattisgarh, it seems unlikely that Dhoni will take a chance on a rookie in a high-pressure tournament without proper conviction.
Last season, Dhoni did give Mumbai leg-spinner Prashant Solanki a couple of opportunities, but he has only played in two Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 matches since then, which means he lacks quality match-practice.
